Title: Little Balls, 2003

Artist: Rosângela Rennó

Exhibition Dates: April 15 – June 14, 2003
Rosângela Rennó is one of Brazil's most prominent contemporary artists. Her work has been exhibited internationally in venues such as the Venice Biennial; The Museum of Contemporary Art of Los Angeles; Centro Reina Sofia, Madrid; and others. Exploring questions of gender and the cultural, social and spiritual values raised by a recurring family photo-album genre of boys and men dressed in military uniforms. The work is timely at present, when the glorification and support for the "coalition" troupes through official portraits in the media have erased the devastating realities of the war in Iraq.

Little Balls is part of Galeria's digital mural series "Pervasive Forces: Globalization, Private Identities and the Public Sphere." The series is funded in part by the National Endowment for the Arts.
