Luis Jimenez
Since the mid-1960's, Luis Jimenez's work has appeared in hundreds of group and solo exhibitions, including the Whitney Biennial in 1973 and 1991. Jimenez has received numerous awards including the Skowhegan Medal for Sculpture and an NEA Fellowship Grant. His work has been featured in many books, such as Contemporary Art in Texas by Patricia Covo Johnson (1994), and articles in Art In America, ArtNews, Artforum and other periodicals and newspapers.
Jimenez has received commissions for large public sculptures which can be seen in El Paso; Pittsburgh; Oklahoma City; Houston; Albuquerque; Fargo, S.D.; and Washington, D.C. He is in the process of completing a sculpture, "Mustang," for the Denver International Airport. Jimenez's sculptures, drawings and paintings are in many public collections including the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; San Antonio Museum of Art; the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Chicago Art Institute; the Hirshhorn Museum and the National Collection of Fine Arts, Smithsonian Institute, Washington D.C. | |
