Eugene Rodriguez
Eugene Rodriguez Master of Fine Arts, Mills College, Oakland, CA, 1994. Bachelor of Arts, San Francisco State University, San Francisco, CA, 1992.
Eugene Rodriguez is a multi-media artist who works in a variety of media such as painting, video, photography and installation work. Through his art, he explores the familial and cultural effects of alienation. Rodriguez explains, “My work explores the construction of identity conveyed through cultural icons and archetypes but filtered through the lens of the media. Visually my art is a hybrid of my family photo album, world histories, portraiture, U.S. soap operas, and Mexican telenovelas with a touch of theater, neo-realism, and surrealism.”
A member of Galería de la Raza’s original ReGeneration Program (1995), Rodriguez has exhibited his work nationally and as well as in Germany, Italy and Mexico.
