Nadin Ospina
Nadin Ospina was born in Bogota, Colombia in 1960. He studied art at the Universidad Jorge Tadeo Lozano (Bogota, 1979-1982), he briefly studied medicine at the same university.
Ospina's solo exhibits include: 1998, Instituto Caribe, Galería Nina Menocal, México D.F; 1999, Viaje al fondo de la tierra, Museo de Arte Moderno de Bogotá; 2000, Arqueología y turismo, Galería El Museo. Bogotá. He has exhibited in the following group exhibits: 2000, VII Havana Biennial, Havana, Cuba; 1997, XX Sao Paulo Biennial, Parque do Ibirapuera. Sao Paulo, Brazil; 1992, Encountering the Others, University GH, Kassel, Germany; 1994, V Havana Biennial, Casa de Bolívar, Habana, Cuba, as well as Die 5 Biennale von Havanna, Ludwig Forum. Aachen, Germany; 1994, Por mi raza hablará el espíritu, Museo del Chopo, UNAM, México, and the II Bienal Barro de América. Museo de Arte Contemporáneo. Caracas, Venezuela. In 2000, he participated in the exhibition “Amigo Racism: Mickey Mouse Meets the Taco Bell Chihuahua” at Galería de la Raza, in San Francisco. In 1992, he was awarded the Colombian Culture Institute Fellowship as well the 1st Prize in the 34th National Artists Salon (Colombia). In 1997 he received the Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship.
