Galería de la Raza and Mission Loteria collaborate in this showcase of artwork created by local San Francisco artists capturing the spirit and history of the Mission District from 16th Street to 24th Street.

Iconography of La Misión begins by grounding us on 16th Street in the American Indian Cultural District where we acknowledge the legacy and traditional lands of the Ramaytush Ohlone people, original inhabitants of the San Francisco Peninsula.

These icons then take us down memory lane, on a cruise that celebrates the  district’s people, the artivism and the beloved cultural celebrations like Dia de los Muertos and Carnaval which  have defined the  Mission District.

In keeping  Latin American culture alive,  many of us depend on local businesses to serve as a bridge to our countries of origin, regardless of distance and man made borders.  These businesses are crucial to the cultural fabric of Latin American identity and  serve as community anchors.

With this collaboration, our goal is to  showcase the connection between artists and small businesses in their role as storytellers and cultural bearers.

Mission Lotería is a “shop local” initiative to help bring shoppers to Mission Street!

“Lotería” is a bingo-style game that is very popular across Latin America. We’ve added our own Mission District twist! San Francisco based artists have designed original pieces for the campaign- these unique pieces are the icons that make up the 11 different tablas!

Mission Lotería is in partnership with the San Francisco Office of Economic Workforce Development (SFOEWD), Mission Economic Development Agency (MEDA), Calle 24 Latino Cultural District , American Indian Cultural District, and Trending Socials ,Social Media Marketing Agency.
